Florida's cattle tradition is one of the oldest in North America. Spanish settlers introduced the first cattle to La Florida, establishing a ranching tradition that has endured for more than 460 years.

Long before the American cowboy became an icon of the West, Florida's "cow hunters" developed their own distinct methods, riding through palmetto prairies, pine flatwoods, and cypress swamps to gather free-ranging cattle.

This artwork draws inspiration from the celebrated American artist Frederic Remington, whose paintings and illustrations captured the grit, movement, and spirit of the working cowboy. While Remington is best known for portraying the American West, his dynamic style serves as a fitting tribute to the enduring heritage of Florida's original cattlemen.

Cow Hunters honors the generations who shaped Florida's ranching legacy, preserving a way of life that remains one of the oldest continuous cattle traditions in the Americas.
